I agree with this article on how it talks about the qualities of a good parent. I believe that the author, Jane Nelson makes very strong points. I agree that parents need to encourage their kids to do things for themselves and that they need to teach them to think independently, how to solve their own problems, and believe in their own abilities. Then she talks about how parents can sometimes do things for their children that they could easily do themselves. Also how parents prevent their child from feeling pain, they rescue them, rather than allowing them to learn from their mistakes. It is not easy for a parent to watch their kid stumble, but sometimes thats what it takes to help them become confident and capable and I agree with that. The main idea is that one of the best qualities of a parent is letting their child go and know its time. Another big important one is a successful marriage between a child's parents. According to the authors research, adults who have a nice loving marriage are more effective parents. They are more patient and attentive to their child's needs. Then the author goes onto a unsuccessful marriage, how the parents are not able to care for someone else. I agree with what she is saying because when a child grows up, that person will look back on their childhood and remember their parents marriage. The memories stay with them forever and later in life, it could effect them when they get married. Therefore, great parents have great marriages. Then the author talks about how a great parent is a great role model. I agree with the author because every parent should set an example for their kids. They should want their kids to look up to them and teach them responsibility, respect and compassion so that one day when they will grow up to be the amazing person they are. And I also like that she says if a child likes and respects you and your values, he will want to embrace them and make them his own. I couldn't agree more. In conclusion, this article was amazing and it had strong points about what makes a good parent.
This article relates to the book, "My Sister's Keeper," by Jodi Picoult. The book is about a girl named Anna who has went through several surgeries to help her older sister Kate who has been battling leukemia since she was a child. Anna is conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate after going through genetic diagnosis. Their mother Kate is great mother because she takes care of Kate by taking her to a pediatrician to see if she's alright. Kate has a bruise on her spine and it hurts whenever someone touches it. This is back in 1990 when Kate is a child. During the appointment the doctor needs to draw some blood and Kate freaks out. Sarah tells her that its gonna be ok and its just a little pinch. The nurse lays her down on the examination table and she sticks the needle in Kate. Kate starts screaming and Im sure that wasn't easy for Sarah to see. That is a great quality because no parent likes to see their child in pain but Kate had to take the blood tests and its not like Sarah was like, "does she have to do this, can we stop?" Only a good mother would make their daughter take the pain and be strong. After the appointment, Sarah was taking care of Kate and she was by her side a lot. She was very compassionate towards her. However, she doesn't really treat Anna right. That is when she is not a good mother. She gives most of her attention to Kate and less on Anna. She is probably trying to be a good mother but she is mostly stressed about Kate having blood cancer. When a child doesn't have a parent around, it effects them from childhood to when they grow up. I do feel bad for Sarah and what she is going through because I cannot imagine what that must be like for a parent to watch their kid battle cancer. Her martyrdom affects the rest of her family she doesn't really pay attention to anyone but Kate. Kate is her main focus right now and thats all that matters
In conclusion, I believe that Sarah is a good mother in some ways like supporting Kate but other then that she doesn't seem to fit the qualities of a good mother to her other children.

Master chef is one of my favorite shows to watch on TV. I like this blog for so many reasons. Master chef is very competitive, I like how they talked about the competitors being hit with curveballs. I don't think they could've said it any better. I also liked the photo of Courtney Lapresi, who won this years competition. She looks really proud of her self and looks stunning. I loved how very open she was about her past because before she was working in a gentlemen's club. She needed money to pay for rent and food, she wasn't just paying for school, but to take care of her self as best as possible. She entered master chef to change her life around and even though she struggled a little in the competition she never gave up. She described her self as a strong resilient person and I agree with her on that because she has faced difficult times in her life but she's fought through them. Right now she is writing her own cookbook that will be published soon and I am so proud of her.

I really like this blog because the pictures of the food are incredible. Visually, the food looks amazing and delicious. There is so much creativity and hard work shown in those dishes. There are a couple recipes that really interest me and those are the mac and cheese stuffed zucchini, brown butter blondies, spicy roasted squash with feta and herbs and the grilled cheese crescent doughnuts. I enjoyed looking at those recipes because they seemed different and creative. Especially the desserts like the chocolate fudge pistachio cake doughnuts, s'mores no-bake icebox cake and the peanut butter s'mOreos. I would really like to try to make one of those.
